Assessments and Evaluations

  • Kindergarten Readiness Skills/Early Literacy Assessment (Letter and sound recognition, Concepts of Print, Phonemic Awareness)

  • Phonemic Awareness,  Phonological Awareness, Phonics Skills, Word Recognition

  • Informal Reading Inventories (Independent and Instructional Reading Level, Oral Reading Accuracy, Fluency, Comprehension) 

  • Analysis of Writing Samples

  • Written evaluation report that determines your child's literacy strengths and needs 

  • Defines clear objectives and recommendations for the most effective individualized program

  • One to two 1-hour sessions

Parent Consultations

  • Support for parents and families as you work with and instruct your child

  • Beneficial for home-schooled students

  • Diagnostic Literacy Assessments

  • Tools, advice, and instructional tips to meet your child's strengths and individual needs. 

  • In-person meetings monthly or bi-weekly with the child and parent to support instruction and monitor progress.

Literacy Workshops 

  • Small groups of parents or teachers

  • Informal and collaborative

  • Topics are based on your interests and concerns. 

  • Workshop examples:

    • Early Literacy and Foundational Skills (for preschool teachers or staff)

    • Understanding Literacy and how to help my child at home

    • Effective teaching strategies for students with Dyslexia

    • How to help or advocate for my child with Dyslexia 

  • Typically a 2-hour Workshop (mornings and evenings available)

Dyslexia Therapy

Your child will learn and discover exactly why words are spelled and pronounced the way they are to build a clear understanding of the English language.  Dyslexia Therapy takes time but will yield dramatic results for your child.

  • A multi-sensory, systematic approach that builds on previously learned skills

  • Structured Literacy (Orton-Gillingham)

  • Phonemic awareness, Phonological awareness, phonics instruction that reinforces letter-sound relationships

  • Orthography (spelling), morphology (structure of words), syllables, syntax (sentence structure), and semantics (meaning).

  • 1-hour sessions, two to four times per week
